Alan MacDiarmid Scholarship

Chemistry excellence

The Alan MacDiarmid Scholarship was established in 2002 in recognition of the outstanding achievements of former Masterton resident, Professor Alan MacDiarmid, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Science.

It is awarded annually to the MTLT district’s top chemistry student, selected through agreement by Masterton secondary school principals.

The student must be intending to study towards a science degree, and the scholarship will be awarded for three years on confirmation of results and re-enrolment.

Former Alan MacDiarmid Scholar and Wairarapa College student, Dr Greg Haslett, has followed an outstanding pathway since receiving the Scholarship in 2006.
